For the Venice Gallery Weekend 2025, Caterina Tognon presents a selection of glasses from her personal collection, featuring pieces made in Murano or inspired by the Venetian tradition, alongside a cabinet designed by Martin Szekely in 1996 for a Milanese collector of art and design.
The Fiole from the first millennium AD, small glass vials for essential oils, represent the earliest Venetian glassblowing. As craftsmanship refined and transparent crystal was developed, the Goto emerged in Murano, the quintessential Venetian glass, which over time became a symbol of everyday beauty. From European courts to every set table, the glass has established itself as a sign of culture and ritual.
Until the 1980s, each Murano furnace kept shelves filled with unique models, showcasing a savoir-faire that has now become rare. This exhibition pays tribute to that tradition, weaving together memory and modernity.
