Over a thousand faces, a thousand stories captured through the lens of Attilio Bruni: a photographic archive that preserves the soul of Venice’s Carnival, balancing tradition and transformation. Supported by master costume designer Stefano Nicolao, the exhibition offers a dual perspective on the celebration: on one side, Bruni’s images, which encapsulate the intensity and uniqueness of those who embody the Carnival; on the other, the magnificent original costumes worn in the last six Flights of the Angel, a spectacular highlight of the event.
The exhibition also features historic costumes from past contest winners, a testament to the ongoing evolution of memory and performance. For Bruni, photography serves as a bridge between past and present, a means to restore authenticity in an era of filtered and retouched images. Through natural light and the camera lens, he captures not just masks and costumes, but the souls behind them.
