An evolving and ever-changing exhibition, Casanova and Death – or the Journey of No Return unfolds in a crescendo from February 14 to March 8 at the Scuola Grande San Giovanni Evangelista (Spazio Cimitero – Sala Badoer).
Curated by Eleonora Fuser — actress and founder of Venice’s TAG Teatro in the 1970s — alongside sculptor and mask-maker Giorgio De Marchi and Capitaneria Lagoon Pirates, the exhibition explores the boundary between life and the afterlife through artistic masks, both inhabited and uninhabited, created by De Marchi and artist-director Lazlo Licata.
Daily talks and events bring the exhibition to life, while four special evenings transform it into a truly immersive experience. On February 14, the opening features performances, poetry, biribissi, and other traditional games. On February 22, a poetic-theatrical assault led by Lagoon Pirates, Eleonora Fuser, Giorgio De Marchi, and video projections takes center stage. On February 28, students from Teatro a l’Avogaria present readings from Goldoni’s works. Finally, on March 8, the closing event showcases The Women of Goldoni, performed by a group of actresses directed by Eleonora Fuser with masks by De Marchi, culminating in a final concert by Lagoon Pirates.
A dazzling journey through art, theater, and mystery, where the legend of Casanova meets his ultimate, seductive enigma.
