Trained as an architect as well as an artist, Baum reflects on the wonders of the Earth, reassembling man-made treasures and joining each section of canvas to create an imaginary and delicate place. His work is shaped by light and the structure of objects. He plays with shadow and light, background and foreground, breaking elements down into layers and reassembling them into a new imaginative dimension, drawing the viewer into a quiet, evocative environment.
