DAVID SALLE. PAINTING IN THE PRESENT TENSE

At the Galleria di Palazzo Cini, David Salle presents a project that brings painting, art history, and new technologies into dialogue. At the center of the exhibition is an artificial intelligence model developed from his Tapestry Paintings (1990–1992), inspired by eighteenth-century Russian tapestries derived from Italian paintings of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. This layered network of historical references intersects with the new technological device, reflecting on painting’s ability to bring different temporalities together within a single visual field. The exhibition is realized in partnership with Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac.
