The exhibition Echoes of the Sanctuary, hosted in the Research Room at Ocean Space, highlights TBA21–Academy’s decade-long collaboration with the Alligator Head Foundation in Jamaica. This community-based organization manages the East Portland Fish Sanctuary, focusing on coral and habitat restoration through a “ridge-to-reef” approach that engages local fishers and farmers. In dialogue with the exhibition otras montañas, las que andan sueltas bajo el agua, the showcase weaves together art, science, culture, and community to address themes such as marine conservation and deep-sea mining. Echoes of the Sanctuary explores critical narratives and historical perspectives, fostering new ways of seeing and responding to global challenges, from the Caribbean Sea to the international negotiations of the ISA in Kingston.
