On November 12th, 2019, the exceptional and tragic acqua alta high tide flooded the ground floor studio of artist Eduard Angeli (Vi- enna, 1942), who had been living in Venice for fifteen years, damaging his work and prompting him to return to Vienna. This exhibition, curated by Philip Rylands, showcases a body of fourteen pieces by Angeli, including nocturnal and diurnal landscapes, interiors, and constructions characterized by an unsettling stillness and the absence of human figures: compositions of deafening silence, of which Venice, thanks to its predisposition to surrealism and symbolism, is a natural protagonist.
