The Museo Fortuny presents for the first time in Italy a major solo exhibition dedicated to Austrian sculptor Erwin Wurm (Bruck an der Mur, 1954), a pioneer in redefining sculpture. After studying in Vienna, Wurm gained international fame with his One Minute Sculptures (1996–97), ephemeral works in which instructions transform everyday objects and the human body into living sculptures. His practice challenges the boundaries between art and daily life, exploring weight, volume, and form, anthropomorphizing objects or manipulating the body, as in Fat Car and Fat House. Humor and paradox coexist with philosophical and social reflections, critiquing contemporary pressures and internal ideals. Wurm invites us to view the ordinary from unexpected perspectives, transforming the familiar into the extraordinary.
