Curated by Matthias Harder, director of the Helmut Newton Foundation, and Denis Curti, artistic director of Le Stanze della Fotografia, the exhibition recounts the career of one of the greatest contemporary photographers through a story structured into six chronological chapters: the beginnings of the 1940s and 1950s in Australia, the 1960s in France, the 1970s in the United States, the 1980s between Monte Carlo and Los Angeles, and the numerous assignments around the world in the 1990s. Among the more than 250 photographs, polaroids, and archive documents, Newton’s shots in Venice are also on display, further emphasizing the elegant and audacious style of a true protagonist of the twentieth century.
