In medieval France, Hôtel-Dieu was the name of the largest dwelling in town. Free for the poor, it required a fee of its wealthier patrons. A plus A and the School for Curatorial Studies Venice opened the first Hôtel-Dieu in Venice. Mass tourism, the selling of historical palazzos to hotel chains, and the transformation of apartments into B&Bs made housing so expensive that many artists had to leave the city. This Hôtel-Dieu will house several artists, who will also be allowed to personalize their living spaces.
