Palazzo Grassi opens its 2024 exhibition season with a major project dedicated to the American artist Julie Mehretu (born 1970, Addis Ababa), who also contributes as a curator alongside Caroline Bourgeois. In addition to Mehretu’s paintings and prints – a corpus of over sixty works from the Pinault Collection, significant museums, and private collections – the exhibition includes works created by the artist’s close circle of friends or by personalities who have influenced her. From Tacita Dean to Robin Coste Lewis, painting enters into dialogue with poetry, sculpture, film, voice, and music.
