Four years after Laura De Santillana’s passing, the Gallerie dell’Accademia and the De Santillana Foundation present some forty pieces by one of the greatest glass artists. Oltre la Materia, curated by Rainald Franz and Michele Tavola, is a journey into an ancient art that De Santillana ferried into modernity, thanks to her passion for traditional Murano craftsmanship and her curiosity for new, modern expressive languages. The exhibition comprises both art made in Murano and later pieces made in Czechia, the result of an innovative production process perfected by the artist in her last years of activity.
