The exhibition produced by the Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation was born from an important network of collaborations and contributions, to tell some forms of artistic expression of the languages linked to sound, listening and speaking. The exhibition project started with the materials conserved in the Bevilacqua La Masa Historical Archive, in particular by artists belonging to “the latest Venetian avant-garde”, who, at the end of the 1970s, were confronted with new technologies, such as Michele Sambin, Claudio Ambrosini and Luigi Viola. The exhibition will display some videos in which the use of sound undermines video aesthetics and invites reflection on space, courtesy of the Cardazzo Archive and ASAC – Historical Archive of Contemporary Arts, Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia. Furthermore, thanks to the collaboration of the Luigi Nono Archive Foundation, audio-visual documents will be shown concerning one of the cornerstones of sound modernization and compositional upheaval, Luigi Nono.
