The Peggy Guggenheim Collection presents a unique exhibition dedicated to Lucio Fontana (1899–1968), focusing on his extraordinary work in ceramics. Manu-Facture, curated by Sharon Hecker, art historian and independent curator, is the first exhibition in an Italian museum entirely devoted to this aspect of the artist’s production, showcasing his imaginative scope and technical mastery as a sculptor. Featuring around seventy works from national and international museums as well as private collections – including pieces never before exhibited – the exhibition encompasses a wide range of subjects, from human figures and animals to harlequins, warriors, and abstract forms. Additionally, photographic documentation of Fontana at work will highlight the importance of the artist’s hand in the creative process.
