LAS Art Foundation (Berlin) and Amos Rex (Helsinki) present a new commission by Natasha Tontey, whose practice encompasses film and video, performance and installation, exploring the subtler tones of history while also examining the possibility of developing an alternative future. The multimedia installation tells the story of an Indonesian resistance fighter of the 1950s. Exploring physical and chemical transformation, the symbolism of Minahasan and contemporary military imagery, the work addresses the issue of the sovereignty of bodies, cultures and the Earth.
