The Marta Czok Foundation presents Modular and wild land, the first solo exhibition in Italy of the young Polish painter Rafał Podgórski. Curated by Niccolò Lucarelli, the exhibition explores the dialogue between tradition and modernity, reflecting on the social changes in post-1989 Poland and the complex balance between progress and cultural roots.
Through a pictorial language that blends fairy-tale suggestions, references to Polish Romantic painting and architectural landscape painting, Podgórski constructs works in which urban greyness contrasts with bucolic poetry. His paintings recall artists such as Jan Weenix and Stanisław Witkiewicz, but reinterpret these influences symbolically, creating suspended atmospheres that celebrate the grandeur of nature and invite reflection on a new ecology of relationships.
