Fascinated by the history of the Palazzo – a rare example of Tuscan-Roman Renaissance architecture where ancient and contemporary elements merge – and by the urban dynamics of Venice, Rick Lowe creates vibrant canvases through a process of painterly construction and deconstruction, where geometric motifs and improvisation dialogue with one another. The paintings contemplate spatial, temporal, and social relationships in line with the artist’s approach, which moves between civic practice and visual expression.
