Over 180 masterpieces from the rich graphic corpus of the civic collections of Bassano del Grappa and significant public and private collections make up this exceptional exhibition dedicated to the “most fortunate black lines” of Venetian engraving and to the authentic media revolution that was the birth and spread of printing. Developed in two locations (Civic Museum of Bassano del Grappa from March 2nd to June 23rd and at Ca’ Rezzonico – Museum of Eighteenth Century Venice from March 8th to June 3rd), Rinascimento in bianco e nero (lit. Renaissance in black and white) curated by Giovanni Maria Fara and David Landau unveils for the first time the development of Venetian Renaissance engraving from the perspective of a shared valorization of Venetian graphic heritage, of which the two institutions safeguard some of the most prestigious collections. The selection includes works by Andrea Mantegna, Albrecht Dürer, Jacopo de’ Barbari, Titian and his engravers’ workshops, Tintoretto, Veronese, Benedetto Montagna, Ugo da Carpi, Domenico Campagnola, Agostino Carracci, and Giuseppe Scolari.
