A central figure in the Korean avantgarde, Shim Moon Seup has been redefining sculptural language since the late 1960s, developing the radical concept of “anti-sculpture,” in dialogue with Mono-ha, Arte Povera and Land Art. Conceiving of the work as the product of natural dynamics, his practice has progressively shifted toward an ecocentric vision where matter, light and energy are active elements of the creative process. This monographic exhibition traces over fifty years of artistic work through twenty-eight pieces which include paintings, sculptures and installations.
