Tutte le creature abitano il confine (All Creatures Inhabit the Border) brings to the historic spaces of Palazzetto Tito an evocative dialogue between the works of Henri Beaufour and Chiara Calore, united by a shared reflection on the boundary as a place of transformation. Curated by Luca Berta and Francesca Giubilei, the exhibition brings painting and sculpture into conversation through a journey that explores the threshold between human and animal, reality and myth, life and death, intertwining two artistic practices that, despite belonging to different generations, reveal striking affinities.
Chiara Calore’s paintings give shape to figures emerging from worlds populated by objects, creatures and narrative fragments, suspended between imagination and memory. Henri Beaufour’s sculptures, by contrast, use heads, animals and portraits to create living, unstable forms, moulded through gesture and imprint as traces of inner tension. The dialogue between the two artists culminates in the juxtaposition of two self-portraits: a ceramic sculpture by Calore and a panel painting by Beaufour, further highlighting the profound resonance between their artistic research.
The exhibition acquires an especially poignant significance following the premature death of Henri Beaufour in November 2025, while the project was still in development. His works continue to engage with those of Chiara Calore, opening new reflections on mortality and reaffirming art’s ability to transcend time and absence. The exhibition also reflects the long-standing mission of Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa to support contemporary artistic research and emerging artists. Chiara Calore was awarded a Bevilacqua La Masa residency grant in 2018.
