Chosen from a shortlist of over 70 applications, the Japanese-American performer, composer, and singer Aine E. Nakamura won this year’s tender with Under an Unnamed Flower, a project on the Japanese Constitution and specifically, about Article 9.
The many merits of the ricci/forte management at the Theatre Biennale include taking the Festival back to town, metaphorically tearing down the first, second, and third walls, and initiating a programme of site-specific performances by the Biennale College, now at its second edition. Chosen from a shortlist of over 70 applications, the Japanese-American performer, composer, and singer Aine E. Nakamura won this year’s tender with Under an Unnamed Flower, a project on the Japanese Constitution and specifically, about Article 9, the one that binds Japan to never again wage war. Nakamura’s seed of peace will be planted in Venice first, and hopefully will grow beautifully in the future.
