The 2026 Arsenale Water Show, inspired by the Olympic theme of the upcoming Carnival, transforms Venice’s Darsena Grande into a vast “Total Theatre,” where myth, competition, and play unfold in a spectacular aquatic setting.
Il Richiamo di Olympia tells the story of Alvise the Fisherman, a mortal who dreams of divine immortality. Guided by the voice of Olympia, he faces five elemental trials, a journey that echoes the great initiatory narratives of Western literature, from Homer and Dante to Icarus and the heroes of ancient games. His path becomes a symbolic ascent, balancing ambition with self awareness. The dramaturgy by Rocco Anelli, directed by Enrica Crivellaro, blends classical myth with contemporary sensibility, supported by the voices of Federica Basile and Luciano Roman and an original sound score.

The staging, designed by Antica Proietteria, Viorica Water Show, and Moonlight Light Show, turns the Arsenale’s waters into a shifting landscape of fountains, projections, lights, and special effects, creating an almost dreamlike visual architecture. Acrobats, dancers, and performers on flyboards, electric foils, and in physical theatre sequences embody gods, heroes, and elemental forces, interacting with the historic boats of the Cavana Tintoretto led by Gloria Rogliani. One of the Carnival’s most emblematic events, the 2026 Water Show channels an Olympic spirit that ultimately points beyond competition toward a single, essential victory: peace.
