Homer’s Odyssey interpreted by four international artists – Gayle Chong Kwan, Stephanie Blake, ISAO, and Didier Guillon – in ULYSSES. We Are All Heroes, an exhibition at Palazzo Bonvicini. Four salient moments in Ulysses’ journey are represented in immersive, multi-sensorial installations. CYCLOPS by Gayle Chong Kwan explore the politics of gaze with a hand-collaged photo triptych. CIRCE by Stephanie Blake depicts the sorceress as a domineering, majestic figure, ten rag hogs surrounding her. THE SIRENS by ISAO is an immersive sound experience, like, arguably, that of the original Sirens of the myth. DEATH OF THE SUITORS by Didier Guillon shows Ulysses’ confrontation with his wife’s suitors, here metaphorizing the struggle to defend democracy..
