The Venice literary Festival is back in a spring version: Incroci di Civiltà is spread throughout the city, and is bringing together 31 writers from 22 different countries.

Among the guests: the Norwegian Roy Jacobsen, the Hungarian László Krasznahorkai, the American Joe Lansdale, the Israeli Eshkol Nevo, the Vietnamese Nguyễn Phan Que Mai, the Venezuelan Karina Sainz Borgo, the Ukrainian poet Boris Khersonsky and the director and author Werner Herzog with his wife Lena Herzog, currently presentin an exhibition at CFZ-Ca’ Foscari Zattere.

Incroci di Civiltà is the international literary festival of Venice, a creation a production of the local Ca’ Foscari University and Fondazione di Venezia with the help of the City of Venice, Marsilio, Fondazione Musei Civici, ENI, Ca’ Sagredo Hotel, and AVA. The Festival planned events around town with the participation of thirty-one authors from twenty-two countries, including Roy Jacobsen from Norway, László Krasznahorkai from Hungary, Joe R. Lansdale from the USA, Eshkol Nevo from Isreael, Nguyễn Phan Que Mai from Vietnam, Karina Sainz Borgo from Venezuela, poet Boris Khersonsky from Ukraine, and author and director Werner Herzog and his wife Lena.

László Krasznahorkai is considered by the critic the most important living Hungarian author. He will open the programme together with Antonio Scurati, well-known author of the M. trilogy (the third book will be out soon).

The Cesare De Michelis Award will be given to Indian published Naveen Kishore, the founder of Seagull Books. Kishore’s company publishes media on art, theatre, cinema, and culture. The Award, an initiative of Italian publishers Adelphi and Marsilio, is a recognition bestowed upon publishers who stood out for the quality and innovation in their enterprise and for their ability to promote culture worldwide. The closing ceremony will see the participation of Werner Herzog. Herzog began his career as a filmmaker very young, in 1962. He grew to became an A-list director and the author of exquisite literature (Of Walking in Ice, Conquest of the Useless, and the recent The Twilight World). Director of Incroci di Civiltà Flavio Gregori will host the event.
