The Abduction from the Seraglio Roma Women. Performative Strategies of Resistance
ORGANIZED BY
ERIAC European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture

Raportoru is one of the most important Romanian visual artists of his generation. He created a series of site-specific installations composed of household items that embody meanings and narrations about Romani culture. Paintings trace the difficult journey of oriental rugs into Eastern European homes. Raportoru’s art will be presented beside that of a collective of Romani female artists and intellectuals – twice a minority, they offer their reflections on alternative perspectives on the theme of abduction.
