Tonnes of black cloth on reels, rows of black sleeves, black tools and sewing patterns. A deafening lack of colour conjures a dark nightmare as artist Gerardo Goldwasser offers his critique on the way societies clothe and exhibit their bodies, and on the shapes people use to perceive themselves as human as they build their own appearance. Familial stories and memories are the starting point to show a universal, or shared, history of the world. It all begins with a German dressmaking handbook Goldwasser inherited from his grandfather, a Jewish tailor that, thanks to his ability as a uniform maker, was able to survive Buchenwald and take refuge in Uruguay.
