According to the Russian feminist Alexandra Kollontai (1872-1952), a sexual revolution is only possible by accepting the idea that impulses are a simple human necessity, to be satisfied as easily as drinking a glass of water. Iva Lulashi adopts this metaphor, extending it to the sphere of love, a powerful feeling but, according to the artist, often neglected by the art world. Love, desire – especially feminine -, impulse, and sexuality are at the center of her paintings which, suspended between photographic and abstract style, evoke situations linked to the erotic act, understood as a vital, liberating, and revolutionary impulse.
