Mamita Montaña (Mother Mountain) is a massive five-meter tall sculpture made of carpets decorated with collage, watercolors, drawings on paper, printed fabrics, small ceramic pieces, and photographs. Recalling the shape of a mountain, the installation represents a safe haven for exiles and refugees. Cosmonación unfolds around this core, presenting other works by the Chilean-Swedish artist Valeria Montti Colque, including a parade of ceramic statuettes representing deities or mythological beings, fabric pieces, and video projections. Overall, the environment transforms into a symbolic borderland where cultures meet, blend, dissolve, and finally come back.
