Inspired by the stories of Tokyo subway maintenance workers, who ingeniously use everyday objects to repair water leaks, Yuko Mohri reflects on how a crisis can spark the highest levels of creativity in people. For the Japanese Pavilion, she has created an installation that fills the spaces with light, sounds, movements, and smell. References are also made to the recent pandemic, the violent flood that struck Venice in 2019, and the protests of young activists in the name of environmental sustainability.
