From a fortress of the Austro-Hungarian Empire to a concentration camp under the Italian fascist regime during World War II, the Montenegrin island of Mamula has been undergoing a revitalization process since 2016 thanks to foreign investments. Through an in-depth analysis of its complex history, Darja Bajagić courageously tackles issues related to the culture of memory, questioning whether the precondition of evil can be attributed to history carelessness or rather to its commodification.
