Against the backdrop of a lush environment – specifically within the Bahuaja Sonene National Park, nestled in the Tambopata jungle of Peru – Roberto Huarcaya placed a 30-meter photosensitive paper roll under a towering palm tree during a storm, so that lightning could ‘etch’ its imprint onto the paper overnight. The monumental photogram was then developed on-site in a darkroom set up amidst the jungle before being moved to Venice, transforming the Peruvian Pavilion into an immersive ritual sanctuary designed to awaken consciousness, stimulate imagination, and encourage meditation.
