The audiovisual installation from Poland takes the form of a ‘karaoke’ made with the sounds of the ongoing war in neighboring Ukraine. The protagonists of this unique narrative, created by the Ukrainian collective Open Group, are civilian refugees who recount their experience through the auditory memories etched in their minds as a tragic soundtrack of the trauma they have endured. As the lyrics describing firearm models scroll by, the audience is invited to reproduce the sounds of gunfire, missiles, and explosions.
