Alioune Diagne has developed a complex and meticulous painting style that he defines as “figuro-abstro,” portraying scenes of Senegalese life incorporating elements inspired by calligraphy. Arranged like a large puzzle measuring 4 x12 meters, with a traditional canoe wrapped in fabric at its center, Diagne’s paintings invite viewers to cultivate connections through common challenges and universal values – in the Wolof language, the term “bokk” in the title means precisely “what is shared” – touching on tragic current issues such as migration, climate change, increasing poverty, and racism.
