Curated by Kim Inhye, A Journey to the Infinite, Yoo Youngkuk’s (1916-2002) first solo exhibition in Europe, features a selection of thirty oil paintings and twenty copperplate prints alongside a series of postcards, photographs, notes, and videos. These works provide an in-depth insight into a prominent figure in Korean and international art, a pioneer of geometric abstract painting. In Yoo’s paintings, dots, lines, and planes model land and sea landscapes that challenge the limits of two-dimensional shapes, showing the artist’s passion for exploring his personal relationship with nature through different painting expressions.
