The Japanese concept of “Ma” – the interval, the space between two forms or two notes, an absence that becomes presence – inspires the work of Hokkaido-born sculptor Kan Yasuda. In an environment of near-total darkness, ten marble sculptures are arranged like islands in an interior garden. Raking light, designed by Agence Wilmotte, lifts them from the white floor, revealing the smooth texture of the stone and the void carved within it. A contemplative landscape in which hardness and softness, form and non-form find their balance in silence.
