Through installations, performance and sound, the collective RojoNegro reflects on colonial processes and their persistent impact on bodies, territories and cosmogonies. In the project presented at the Pavilion, a line of salt in the shape of a comma – a Mesoamerican symbol of speech and dialogue – has been drawn across the exhibition space. On it there are vessels modelled as birds, beings that in Mexican tradition symbolically link the Americas. The salt absorbs moisture and glows while the ceramics slowly erode under touch. It’s a process that allows matter to transform and preserve memory. The installation is completed by an audiovisual device that interweaves human breath with the sounds of the Earth, generating a slow rhythm that invites visitors to listen and to enjoy stillness.
