Amanda Heng Liang Ngim is a pioneering figure in Singapore’s contemporary art scene. Her reflection on the body – considered at the same time as instrument and subject – began in the late 1980s and has unfolded across the hybrid territories of performance, installation, photography, and participatory action. Her project for the Singapore Pavilion takes shape as a space of rest and observation, focused on ordinary gestures such as sitting, waiting, and looking.
