Over three decades, Alma Allen has developed an abstract and biomorphic sculptural language inspired by the landscapes and geological formations of the Americas. The exhibition presents site-responsive sculptures that explore the concept of “elevation” as both a physical manifestation of form and a symbol of collective optimism. Allen combines pre-industrial methods with advanced technologies, working with local materials. In his works, rough rock seems to be smoothed by time and solid bronze appears liquid. Even if these sculptures seem to be static, in the artist’s mind they are always in motion like a breeze.
