A large-scale immersive installation draws inspiration from the ancient funerary towers of Palmyra, monumental mausoleums built between the 1st and 3rd centuries AD and destroyed during the war in Syria. Painting, architecture, light, sound, and olfactory art intertwine to evoke a place that once stood at the crossroads of Greco-Roman, Aramaic, and Arab cultures, where communities of different religions and origins coexisted in harmony. The project is not only a reflection on loss – hundreds of funerary portraits were looted and sold abroad – but also a gesture of hope and an invitation to the return of stolen antiquities.
