Works that remained in sketch form for over fifty years in Vyacheslav Akhunov’s studio are presented alongside more recent pieces, forming a reflection on memory, time, and spiritual consciousness. Among the first to introduce Conceptualism into the Uzbek context – a movement he encountered during his studies at the Moscow State Institute of Art – Akhunov renders visible, through painting, drawing, video, and installation, practices of introspection that run throughout his career. Recurring is the use of the mantra, a device through which the artist activates an ongoing dialogue with his own memory.
