Where does a democracy end and a theocracy begin? From this question, the Brazilian director Petra Costa develops a documentary analyzing the events that took place in her country during the rise to power of Bolsonaro, openly supported by the evangelical Church. The film investigates Brazil’s descent into religious fundamentalism, portraying a country divided by a “holy war” in which faith and principles come into conflict with each other.
