A baby dies during childbirth. Suspicious circumstances lead to the belief that Nina, the midwife who assisted with the delivery, may be involved in illegal abortions for women in distress. The film addresses the themes of life and death, exploring the dichotomy and convergence between existence and motherhood.

Dea Kulumbegashvili

Born in Russia and raised in Georgia, Georgian director and screenwriter Dea Kulumbegashvili studied at Columbia University in New York. In 2014, she made her debut at the Cannes Film Festival with the short film Ukhilavi Sivrtseebi, which deals with family themes. Her first feature film, Naked Sky, later retitled Beginning (2020), was supported by the International Film Festival Rotterdam and received a residency at the Cannes Film Festival, along with other awards from the Sofia and Sarajevo Film Festivals.
