(2025, United Kingdom, 117')
Young beekeeper Teddy and his best friend are obsessed with conspiracy theories and convinced of one thing: aliens are among us. Their suspicions fall on Michelle Fuller (Emma Stone), powerful CEO of a pharmaceutical giant whom they believe is an alien bent on destroying Earth. They decide to kidnap her and subject her to a suffocating interrogation to extract the truth and stop her plan. But nothing in this war against invasion is as it seems. Loosely adapting the South Korean cult Save the Green Planet!, Lanthimos crafts a paranoid odyssey oscillating between farce and tragedy, sci-fi and conspiratorial delirium—a world where belief becomes dangerous and reality unstable.
Yorgos Lanthimos (Athens, 1973) is one of the most original and radical directors in contemporary cinema. His filmography, marked by visionary language and a distinctive style, blends social satire, grotesque elements, and existential reflections with sharp irony. After debuting with Kinetta (2005) and gaining international recognition with Dogtooth (2009), he solidified his reputation with The Lobster (2015) and The Killing of a Sacred Deer (2017), expanding his narrative into increasingly ambiguous and unsettling territories. He debuted in Venice in 2011 with Alps, and in 2018, won the Silver Lion with The Favourite. He returned in 2023 to win the Golden Lion with Poor Things, again starring Emma Stone.
