Fanny and Jean are a happy couple—both are successful professionals, they live in a nice apartment in an upscale neighbourhood in Paris, and are in love with one another as they were on day one. One day, Fanny randomly meets former schoolmate Alain, and feels attracted to him. The two meet again and grow closer. Woody Allen himself said of his film: «A romantic, passionate and violent story set in contemporary Paris. Shot throughout the city and its countryside, the film develops around a love story between two long-standing young friends that escalates into marital infidelity and ultimately crime».
