Julio is almost forty and still lives at home with his mother in a house by the river, not far from Rome. The mother is a strong, determined woman who fled Colombia when she was young and pregnant. Julio and his mother’s relationship is complex, symbiotic, deep, and morbid. Their bond makes them share everything: their passion for Latin American dance and their work as drug dealers. It will all tear apart with the arrival of a young Colombian woman, herself implicated in drug smuggling.
Born in Rome in 1984, Enrico Maria Artale holds a degree in philosophy and one in film. His short movie My Bow Breathing, released in 2012, earned him a Nastro d’Argento. In 2013, Artale presented his first feature film, The Third Half, at the Venice Film Festival in the Orizzonti Section. The film was awarded the Premio Pasinetti for a Debut Film. The filmmaker also directed two series of documentaries for Sky Arte and Saro, presented at the Turin Film Festival and recognized as Best Italian Documentary.
