(2023, Italy, 104')
The directorial debut of Micaela Ramazzotti is a story about the trials and tribulations of a young woman aspiring to make a career in the film industry as a makeup artist, but she must contend with a dysfunctional family. Felicità (lit: happyness) is a film about the struggle to break free from troubled family bonds,” says the director. In this pathological family, a kind of two-headed monster that devours every hope of freedom for its children, the director has reserved the role of the protagonist for herself. Desirè will do everything she can to free herself and her brother Claudio from the oppressive grip of two selfish and manipulative parents, even if it makes her seem “certainly not an edifying portrait of a virtuous woman. On the contrary, she is decidedly imperfect, naïve, a bit deceitful and even pathetic.” A woman who will continue to fight against everything and everyone in the name of the only love she knows, in pursuit of some trace of happiness. Alongside her in the cast are Max Tortora, Anna Galiena, Matteo Olivetti, and Sergio Rubini. The cinematography is by Luca Bigazzi.
