Between October and November 2024, De Gregori chose an unusual starting point for his music: He performed every night for a month at Milan’s small Out Off theater, presenting lesser-known or completely unknown songs from his repertoire, with a different setlist each time and surprise guests. He then decided to turn this project into a film—not a celebratory biopic, but a movie immersed in his music, moving through songs, theater shadows, emotions, and spontaneous encounters.
Director, journalist, and TV author Stefano Pistolini had previously worked with De Gregori on the 2013 documentary Finestre rotte and in 2022 on Falegnami & Filosofi with Antonello Venditti. He participated in the Rome Film Festival in 2010 with Nessuna Speranza Nessuna Paura and in 2011 with Killer Plastic – Tu ti faresti entrare?, also producing TV features on American society.
