Andrés Peyrot is a Panamanian-Swiss filmmaker who made documentaries on art and culture for French television. God Is a Woman has been inspired by the finding of a legendary pieces of film on the Kuna people of Central America. In 1975, Oscar-winning French director Pierre-Dominique Gaisseau travelled to Panama to film a documentary on the Kuna, who are known for the sacredness they tribute their women, but his project fails and the bank impounds all footage.
