Scarlet, a warrior princess and daughter of a king murdered under mysterious circumstances, swears vengeance for her father’s death. When her mission fails and she is mortally wounded, she awakens in a timeless realm: the Land of the Dead. Born in 1967 in Nakaniikawa, Toyama Prefecture, Mamoru Hosoda studied oil painting at the Kanazawa College of Art. In 1993 he joined Toei Animation as an animator, contributing to iconic films and series such as Dragon Ball, Slam Dunk, and Sailor Moon. He made his directorial debut in 2000 with Digimon: The Movie. From 2005 to 2011 he worked with Madhouse studio before founding his own Studio Chizu, where he created international hits like Wolf Children (2012) and The Boy and the Beast (2015).
