Between 1968 and 1985, the Tuscany countryside witnessed one of the most brutal serial killers in recent history, responsible for eight double homicides. Amid convictions later overturned on appeal, lingering suspicions, and unresolved questions even after forty years, this series recounts a major criminal case based on facts gathered over years of research, including direct testimonies, journalistic investigations, and the records of a long and troubled judicial process.
Always attentive to Italian current affairs since the 1970s, Stefano Sollima rose to fame with the series Romanzo Criminale, based on the novel by Giancarlo De Cataldo. His 2015 film Suburra, also based on a De Cataldo book, received numerous nominations for the David di Donatello and Nastro d’Argento awards. The prequel series based on the film was Netflix’s first Italian production and achieved great success. Sollima made his Hollywood debut in 2018 with Soldado, and in 2023 he competed at Venice with Adagio.
